LEVKOVICH Architects - Karmann Project

LEVKOVICH latest project,

Karmann’s Hotel & Spa

Hi design junkies,

You may recall the talented Levkovich Architects from their last project, where they designed a lovely flower boutique. Then, you know how much they enjoy designing their projects with symbolism, and this time it's all about the Baltic Sea.

Meet Karmann’s hotel, where the landscape comes alive inside and out, but that's not the only place where Levkovich left their mark; the hotel spa is truly the most captivating piece of it all.

Located right on the Baltic sea, Levkovich wanted to create an interior that captivated the landscapes seen from outside the hotel windows.

They accomplished this by designing minimalistic rooms with panoramic windows from ceiling to floor and lighting that replicates the sense of light found in nature.

Every architect has a favourite piece within a design; for Levkovich Architects, there are several.

From the wine wall made of metal sheets coated in acid to add elegance and exclusivity to the interior, to the wave symbolism represented by the bar counter and reception, both made of brass in the shape of a sea wave.

The bathroom is imperative to see because it is covered in 3.740 sticks.

For the spa, the theme is different.

Inspired by the beautiful Melissani Cave, the spa is surrounded by artificial stone to enhance the depth and recreate the sense of connection.

The steel sheets on the ceiling have a texture of ripples of water to create natural light that creates a flow of mesmerising highlights throughout the space.

Since it was set on the basement floor, Levkovich stated that it was the most difficult space to design while keeping the style of natural sources.

Rather than being light and open like most spas, this one is dark and cave-like, making you feel as if you are alone on an island in complete serenity.

By understanding symbolism through design, Levkovich Architects captured the exact sensation of being in nature.
