Bloomingville MINI

Bloomingville MINI

The kids brand of the international

home decor company

We have been talking about Bloomingville a lot lately after seeing their new AW20 collections, but we haven’t talked about Bloomingville MINI yet… so it is time we do! Bloomingville MINI was launched with the idea to expand the decoration line for our little ones and we must say: WE LOVE IT! Here are some of our favorite pieces from the collection.

NEWS for this AW20 collection: A beautiful string of new furniture for kids made in naturals materials. How cute does it look?

Another new design we love is their wooden theatre. Isn’t it the perfect Christmas gift idea?

We had the pleasure to meet Theresa Bligaard the designer behind Bloomingville MINI so we have asked her a few questions:

Hello Theresa, nice to meet you.

Could you tell us a little bit more about yourself?

I’ve worked for Bloomingville since 2017 and previously worked within the field of kids interior.

My career choices have been driven by my passion for designing kids stuff and this dream has only flourished by working here at Bloomingville.

Besides being passionate about Design, I’m also a loving mother of four children and have a wonderful husband too. Through my motherhood, I’ve gotten many ideas for creating new, cool and beautiful things for the kids’ rooms – A hobby that I can share through my work and with my family when the designs are produced, which is pretty cool!

What is the biggest challenge when creating designs for kids?

There are many things to consider when designing interior for kids particularly all the requirements regarding product safety and compliance in general. We get all our MINI products tested to provide the safest experience to both the little ones and adults.

Also, Bloomingville is certified according to STANDARD 100 by OEKOTEX® and a wide range of our textiles in the Bloomingville MINI collection are OEKOTEX certified. This certification guarantees that the products are harmless in human ecological terms.

What is the main priority when creating new collections for Bloomingville MINI?

It’s definitely to design kids interior that both accommodates children’s lively expectations and parents’ demands for aesthetically pleasing home interior. I always strive towards designing styles that encourage fun and laughter, but also designing things that are pleasing to the eye.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

Everywhere and particularly from my everyday life as a mother. I’m always on the lookout for detecting needs within the field of home interior for kids, so I make sure that I collect new inspiration as an integral part of my profession as a passionate Designer. Mother nature is a go-to place for me to get inspired and I regularly seek inspiration on social media like Pinterest and from Facebook groups, discussing how best to decorate children’s rooms.

I try to balance my professional knowledge sought from trend talks and books with personal experiences from everyday life, because this combination often leads to the most successful designs.

What is your favorite MINI design so far?

The new wall décor in cotton is my favorite piece this season – I designed it during my pregnancy as I just couldn’t find any throws in the shops that would be a perfect fit at home. So I played with a few illustrations and materials that turned into this lovely wall décor. The fine details and earthy colors will adorn walls both in the kids’ rooms, as well as in the more adult living spaces, such as the living room or hallway, and it also serves the purpose as a baby blanket. It is multifunctional and simply beautiful to look at.

What is your most remarkable memory from Bloomingville MINI’s journey?

I’m very proud to be part of the MINI journey, which has been daunting at times, as we did change our style quite a bit compared with our collection only three years ago. The design aesthetics have moved away from the cute-looking illustrations and bright colors towards a completely new style of designing. Today, customers are introduced to new animal friends that stand out, and toys and textiles in a dusty color palette, just to mention a few key characteristics.

Our customers have accommodated this change of direction warmheartedly, and we continue to see an increase in sales. We already foresee great success with the AW20 MINI collection, and I can’t wait to launch the next… designing for Bloomingville MINI is truly like the best adventure you’ve ever had but without an ending. It keeps on giving and the MINI universe just keeps on growing. Designing for Bloomingville MINI is quite a remarkable journey in itself!

Could you tell us more about the highlights from the AW20 MINI collection?

I adore the new AW20 MINI collection and believe that it will impress kids as well as parents with illustrations of sweet forest animals and wild finds of nuts, mushrooms and pinecones. We’ve played with warm autumn colors and introduced a line-up of entertaining games, perfect for the indoors. Each design boasts of spectacular storytelling like puppetry, encouraging kids to perform in front of their mom, dad, and sisters – or crowds of teddy bears”.

Are there any new projects coming up soon?

We’re currently working on the collection for 2022 and will continue to draw in treasures from Mother nature as well as introducing new charming characters to further grow the beloved Bloomingville MINI family”.

To finish this interview we would like to ask 2 personal questions…

What is your morning routine?

I wake up early to secure a fresh shower in the morning before everyone else wakes up – I absolutely love my morning showers as they give me a moment for myself and a space to inhabit with my own thoughts – in general its just my favourite routine that I get to do every day. I then wake up my kids, select their outfits – cos if I don’t the chances are that my husband will dress them and that often turns into what I would call a circus look. So I prefer to dress our kids. Then we eat breakfast together and I head straight to work”.

What is your favorite city? Why?

I adore Italian cities because of their inspiring culture and openness towards tourists. You always feel very welcome and the food is just amazing! I even learned Italian in school and enjoy delivering a few phrases here and there in the office or when I’m out and about to keep up my language skills and dream myself back to warmer weather and apperitivos”.
