Work Hard, Play Hard - Studio Roar Designs New Abu Dhabi Office
Purposeful space for adults and children
where work meets play
—
Interior design and architecture studio Roar has given a fun and functional look to the UAE’s Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood (SCMC), located in Abu Dhabi, and we’re in love with the interior.
The award-winning interior design studio was launched in 2013 as Pallavi Dean Interiors but rebranded as Roar in 2018. The studio’s goal is to give all people amazing experiences in the spaces they design.
The workspace, designed by Studio Roar for SCMC, is mixing offices and play spaces for children on all its three levels, and the whole concept was designed with both the adults and children’s needs in mind.
The design narrative was built around the different cultural elements from the region, as well as the SCMC’s core mission - fostering innovation and creativity in the fields of motherhood and childhood.
In the aesthetic sense, the workspace uses local design references like woven palm leaves together with playful elements such as geometric patterns and bright colours.
All of the elements work together in a well-defined way, making sure everyone entering the multifunctional space can enjoy it in the way they want.
‘‘When designing a space, we always have the users front of mind. Here, the interiors remind the decision-makers how their work impacts little people.
This was done by infusing a playful energy across the three floors of the building, with each level offering a unique experience.’’ - Pallavi Dean, founder and creative director of studio Roar
