Hello, design junkies!
We’ve been introduced to a cool new design project in Canada and are excited to share it with you - because who doesn’t love an aesthetic neighbourhood cafe?
Café Collab, a new coffee shop and co-working space in the heart of Montreal’s trendy Ville-Émard has opened. Behind the cafe’s design stands Ivy Studio Inc, a Canadian architecture studio.
Collab was created in order to help develop the neighbourhood, and its purpose is to serve not only as a place to hang out and enjoy a cup of quality coffee but also to work and meet people.
The beautiful neutral tones and shades of blue invite calmness, and the edgy and minimalistic shapes give a modern touch to the space.
In the centre, you can see a service counter that acts as the reference design element while holding multiple functions. Besides being a client counter, it’s also a shared working desk.
Light wooden floors and white painted walls were combined with cobalt-blue stained oak, to add a bit of contrast to the space. Everything from the glossy steel tables to velvet curtains is breathing the signature colour, reinforcing the identity of the brand.
The central counter, covered in glossy light blue ceramic, unites the cobalt-blue tones and natural wood in a harmonic way.
In addition, the space’s square mirrors are covered with blue-fading film, in order to bring a sense of depth and mystery.
