In February 2018 we went to Berlin and we made some friends, have a look and these amazing places! We love Berlin.
LA LUCHA
Modern Mexican, The new place to be !
La Lucha was founded by Max Paalberg in 2017. Max lived in Mexico and fell in love with the Mexican culture and of course the Mexican Food. For him the Mexican restaurants are often underrepresented as original Mexican food and that’s why he decided to bring a real Mexican Food restaurant to Berlin.
La Lucha was designed by ett la benn and it opened 9 months ago, it is already full!
Better book a table before going!
As a Mexican food lover I HAD to try La Lucha, and I have to say it was one of the best Mexican food experiences I’ve had.
If you are looking for tex-mex, this is not the place, but if you are looking for a fancy well designed restaurant that offers a real a Modern Mexican culinary experience, La Lucha is your place!
My first impression was wahou! How amazing the decor is! Pastel pink entrée, colourful walls, a mix between Mexican and minimal modern style, spot on!
Then, I had a look to the menu and it took me 20 minutes to choose! So many choices!
I had the Azul Quesadillas (my fav). It has a smokey taste and a surprising texture. Then I had the Ceviche, spicy enough, mixed with avocado and tiny cherry tomatoes, so good!
I also tried the beef tacos which I loved too. Everything is amazingly well presented and the service is fantastic! It was an amazing food experience.
And then … It was dessert time or better said… Tequila time! La Lucha has one of the largest Tequila and Mezcal selection I’ve ever seen.
You can choose between 126 different bottles of Tequila and Mezcal. They served it in the proper Mexican way, accompanied with Sangrita; a drink that empowers the tequila's acidity and refreshes the palate between sips, forget the salt and lemon this is the proper way to drink Tequila!
The manager, Leon, knows them all and is really good at helping you choosing the best and explaining why and where are they from.
La Lucha is located at 5 minutes walking from the famous Berlin Kottbusser Tor train station, right in front of the canal.
Amazing food, beautiful design, super team.

DAS STUE HOTEL
A luxury hotel where you feel like home.
—
Let’s start with a bit of history…
This impressive curved building was built in 1938-40 as the royal Danish embassy by Johann Emil Schmidt. But in 1943, the building was battered by the war. Today it is a mix of old and modern architecture.
Das Stue (which means “living room” in Danish) is since 2012 a luxury hotel built for you to feel just like home.
It has been decorated by a Spanish interior designer Patricia Urquiola (well known for mixing materials and colours into a surprising harmonious ensembles).
The entrance is beautiful, in grey stones, with a crocodile skull sculpture and a hanging lights installation made with ping pong balls.
Then, you enter to the bar which is full of art pieces from all around the world, velvet yellow sofa, copper bar… A mix between luxury-boho, modern & vintage, with a terrace and a direct entrée to the Berlin Zoo.
The bar is open to everyone, not only the guests, with live concerts from Thursdays to Sundays.
You can also enjoy the casual restaurant or their Michelin star restaurant (Cinco by Paco Perez) which has a beautiful copper installation hanging above the dinner table.
The kitchen is visible so you can see the team preparing your food.
The hotel also has a pool and a spa which only use natural products.
Most of the rooms have a view to the forest or the zoo (yes, while you take your shower you can see animals ☺ There are 78 rooms with different designs and sizes. You can book a suite with a private terrace and living room or a smaller room.
Each room is decorated by an amazing photography collection.
There is also a library on each floor (my favorite part of the hotel) with a great selection of Taschen books, a comfortable sofa for you to work on and well decorated “living room”.
Did I talk about the buffet breakfast? ohhhhh! It is definitely the best. A large selection of drinks (you can even have some Kombucha), fresh pastries, eggs, fruits, beetroot verine… Food for any taste!
Das stue hotel is well located as it is in front of Tiergarten Park.

ANDREAS MURKUDIS Concept Store
A unique experience with a Museum-like atmosphere
—
Andreas Murkudis concept store is located in Berlin's Schönenberg neighbourhood , but you really have to do the research as it is located in a backyard and is a bit hidden.
It is a large Industrial space with a unique selection of high quality products. When you go inside, you don’t know where to start looking, everything is beautiful!
Behind the cashier, a large selection of leather bags, next to it a unique jewelry selection, clothing, shoes, home decor…you can spend easily an hour looking at everything and it is really hard to go out with nothing!
Andreas doesn’t choose the products because they are trendy but because they have a story, it is why when you go there you find brands you don’t know or often see.
